Everyone's already got their hands full so I'll cut to the chase:
There's room at the table for us at the upcoming meeting between Capt. Childe and the Thessyx representatives. Don't know how many seats or what's going to be discussed, but if you want to be the one representing us, or otherwise got any strong feelings on the matter
Now's the time to speak up.
( ooc: the mods said they'll be RNGing to pick from candidates for the closed door meeting! but if you've put your character forward OOCly already feel free to use this post to make their case ICly, groupchat amongst each other, etc! )

you talk to nat? she got people skills.
[ 'she's real good at reading a room' or 'she's a spy' might be a little much to put on the network. 'People skills' sounds so much more palatable. ]

I wanna keep things open.

If the Thessyx are drawn here because of us, it stands to reason that they should allow us to be their audience in this meeting. Especially if they come bearing gifts, which I'm very interested in.

[He doesn't love that a big group of them know each other but he doesn't know any of them.]
Any ideas on gifts we might provide in reciprocation? Seems like a diplomacy opportunity. I know we have a few artists. Maybe a performance if anyone is particularly good at any of the arts.

Can't really argue against offering them something, as long as we don't end up insulting our hosts.

( which steve is savvy enough to take as 'trust but verify', given how well he knows her by now. she likes balthier — but 'like' rarely translates to anything more intense than that with her short of trial by fire. )

I don't feel I know enough of my fellow new arrivals well enough to speak for any of us, and if I raised my hand to join the meeting, I'd probably be taking that seat just to sate my scientific curiosity, which isn't fair of me.

[ Not specific to Alex, but he'd meant to say that earlier in his text. Didn't want to bog down the message. ]
I know I've got a ton of questions I'd like answered. Hadn't thought about others before us arriving the same way though.

@jon.snow
[OOC note: I am sick and hiatused, and as such, Jon should not be RNGed into the meeting. I’m commenting here mainly because it’s IC to do so, but the rest of this can be handwaved. He would explain that he has experience with this sort of meeting and “has made allies out of enemies before,” but he would also say that if he isn’t able to attend, Daenerys would be a good choice, she’s a queen, etc. I don’t know if Steve would press him for titles, but if he did, the two Jon would deploy are “Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch” and “King in the North,” with an acknowledgment that they don’t mean anything in this setting.]

Actually, I have a second request. To everyone who goes: don't embarrass us.
[Since not everyone has a hand in picking these representatives what with everyone being too new to be familiar with one another yet. Well, for the most part.]

[ They're not a unified group. Do they even know if they have goals in common? John isn't big on trusting someone else to speak for him. But John isn't big on trust, anyway. ]
I'd like to hear what they have to say. Something drew them here now, and it seems like they're interested in us. I want to know why.
If I can't be in the room, I think Sam Wilson should be. He'd have my vote.
[ Sam's a soldier, and seems to have his wits about him. John had followed his lead once; he'd do it again. ]
no subject
[ Sometimes it's just like that. ]
I'm with you on Sam.
For transparency's sake we've been partners back home for years. I trust him.
