Hey so

I've been screwing around with the network connecting the communications devices a little. I know there's no Spotify here, no internet, not a lot of music, which sucks. My MP3 player came here with me, so I figured maybe some people might like to have at least a few options. It might not necessarily be to everyone's taste, but it's better than nothing (probably).

I've uploaded the contents to the database, you should be able to access it or send/receive songs at any time.

Turns out they already had some music on there too, so you can poke around theirs and see if you find something you like more. I haven't gotten to go through it all, but at least some of it looks like 21st century Earth stuff.

Sidenote: you're welcome to criticize the contents of my MP3 player, just know that I've never felt shame in my life & I can and will sing all of these karaoke style to your face. IDK if you really want to live through that experience.

I'm not sure any of us can actually take credit for being beamed up.

We figured out how it happened back in the last place I was, but I don't think it has anything to do with how we got HERE.

At this point it feels a little like I'm playing cosmic pinball, and I'm the ball.

What do you mean, the last place you were?

The place I time-travelled to was like future Earth, but I know it wasn't MINE. We were on the bad end of the apocalypse and we only had a couple years left max, back home.

How do you know it wasn't yours? None of us really know our own future, right?

Because the race that invaded our planet snuffed out most of the population and started stripping it of most of its important resources. We were already starting to see climate impact. I'd be surprised if anybody lasted another 5 or 10 years. It wasn't like the movies. Nothing could've stopped them. There's no future there.

The future is what you make it. No one can know till they get there. Maybe you were wrong and there was a way

I'm not wrong about that. I don't blame you for trying to be optimistic, but you'd understand if you were there.

Humanity won in the end, rebuilt, there were major cities around most of the globe but also a lot of hazardous radiation zones. You pretty much had to stay within city limits or safe zones, not a lot of rural living. Aside from that, not bad. Cars, jobs, apartments. Cool tech. I liked it, even if some other people didn't.

Except that the future he'd heard about never included apartments or cars. Or jobs, beyond just trying to stay alive. He knows it isn't meant to, but this? It gives him hope. ]

Sounds like there was plenty to like. I wouldn't mind seeing a future like that.

The war with the machines. They ever say how they won?

They created a world-wide EMP. It decimated all the AIs in existence, and they were outlawed completely after that.

Not really. Being human, I'm pretty interested in how they survive.

You're right, though, none of that explains how we woke up inside eggs, on very much not Earth.

The thing that pulled me out of my world and into that future was a being people thought of as a god, basically. One stupid human overreached and tried to control it, but wound up breaking it apart.

I don't necessarily believe it was actually a god, but I do believe it was probably something more advanced than we've ever seen before. It could be whatever's pulling us here is kind of like that? Maybe a little bit less evolved considering we're coming out of eggs, but who knows?

Putting us in eggs is pretty inventive. I've got to give them that, whoever they are. Or whatever, I guess.

I'm not really the religious type, but I guess we've all technically been born again.

I look way too much like Jesus for that to start catching on, man. Don't spread the idea.

Starting a cult WAS at the top of my agenda, but since you asked nicely, I'll shelve it for a while.

Yeah my fear of commitment is way too big to be a cult leader, it wouldn't work out.
