[ there's two rather serious-looking men on the camera. one of them is decidedly frowning a bit as he watches on from the back, not really familiar with the technology but curious about it; his companion, vidar, front and centre, certainly looks a lot more at home in front of a camera as if he'd done this a million times. once the feed starts, anyone who knows him will be amused to see him switch into a more genial, for-the-camera persona that seems worn with ease.

anyway, not much of an introduction needed. ]

I'm Vidar.

We've retrieved a seed vault from the Adamant. According to its manifest, and verified by Agriculture, it has several staples in it such as potatoes, onions, carrots, and beets.

There's enough metal supplies lying around to help with the construction of a garden for it, but if anyone wants to help add a roof contraption of some sort to protect it from the acid rain, feel free to let us know. Zhongli - [ gesturing to his companion here ] - is going to attempt to cultivate the ground to ease with growth and help with the plants' success.

Helping out with the upkeep of the garden is also welcome - I don't exactly have a green thumb. [ a wry smile. ]

Questions or concerns to me. Zhongli is here as well to assist. Keep in mind we're not staff - just a pilot who misses real food, and someone with .... earth-related magic abilities. [ doing the best they can!!!! ]

Different port of entry, and there are many different seed vaults. Not all of them are viable for one reason or another.

Have you been there?

Once, when we were sent out to gather herbs.
I wasn't able to enter.
How was the state of the interior, all things considered?

[spalten]

Bad. Three years out in the wilderness, dealing with acid rain, and with a crew that needs people to survive - it's a wreck, and most of it has been stripped for parts.

[morozova]

But they've clearly not managed to get everything if the seed bank was left untouched.
Unless there were multiple.
Are there multiple?

[spalten]

There were. Not all are serviceable.

[morozova]

That is unfortunate.

( though perhaps it's for the best for the moment, if only because they still haven't managed to figure out how to better enrich the soil. though perhaps there is something within the ship, itself, that could help with that too. )

[spalten]

It just means that there is more effort required in maintaining what we did manage to obtain.

The ship itself is unmapped territory. Who knows what else is there.

Agreed.

I assume, then, that you plan to return at a later date?

[spalten]

I do. It's just a matter of figuring out what for. The ship is big and it's not productive to just 'explore' without a goal in mind.

Do you want to be involved?

[morozova]

Of course.
Doubtless there are people at the camp that would be able to advise you on what to look for.
Where you might find it and so forth.

But, yes.
I confess the technology is a little beyond me but I am curious.

[spalten]

[ on the other end of the keyboard, a slight laugh. ]

Doubtless. But I'm not anyone's errand boy. I go when I think it's interesting.

The technology isn't that impressive once you break it down to what it can and cannot do - I don't doubt you'll be able to find something equivalent in your world.

Fair enough.

( as much as alina and nina have been extolling the virtues of making nice with the locals, he's still leery. undecided as to whether not they aren't still somehow responsible for their present predicament. )

Perhaps in the broadest sense.

( though, really, what does it say of his world that the dragon is less shocking to him than the notion of a space ship? )

Of course.

People have been curious about the stars for as long as they've looked up to the skies; the idea of being here and the ship itself isn't really that impossible.

What happened to it is something else entirely. And as much as I'm interested in that tale of woe the people who know about it aren't as interested in talking.

It's a rather amusing predicament.

You are from a place where such technology is more commonplace, I assume.

Their wariness is understandable if unhelpful. We are all relying on one another, here, regardless of whether or not it pleases us.

[spalten]

Very true. But you have to admit, the circumstances are rather isolating - new, strange folks coming out of the woodwork on a regular basis, taking up resources, and getting preferential treatment from the resident aliens.

There's plenty to be sore about.

[morozova]

The resident alien species that might've had a hand in bringing us here, evidently.

[spalten]

Do we know that for sure?

[morozova]

No.
We only have what they've shared.

[spalten]

They're a patient kind. But no creature in this world, or any other world, offers gifts freely. Even the most generous of us weighs the benefits of the gesture before giving.

[morozova]

Exactly.

So either they know something or they hope to learn more through ingratiating themselves.

[spalten]

Both are possible. I just hope we find out before it becomes relevant to them; I like surprises, personally, but not when it's being sprung on me.
