i. un. vidar / video
[ there's two rather serious-looking men on the camera. one of them is decidedly frowning a bit as he watches on from the back, not really familiar with the technology but curious about it; his companion, vidar, front and centre, certainly looks a lot more at home in front of a camera as if he'd done this a million times. once the feed starts, anyone who knows him will be amused to see him switch into a more genial, for-the-camera persona that seems worn with ease.
anyway, not much of an introduction needed. ]
I'm Vidar.
We've retrieved a seed vault from the Adamant. According to its manifest, and verified by Agriculture, it has several staples in it such as potatoes, onions, carrots, and beets.
There's enough metal supplies lying around to help with the construction of a garden for it, but if anyone wants to help add a roof contraption of some sort to protect it from the acid rain, feel free to let us know. Zhongli - [ gesturing to his companion here ] - is going to attempt to cultivate the ground to ease with growth and help with the plants' success.
Helping out with the upkeep of the garden is also welcome - I don't exactly have a green thumb. [ a wry smile. ]
Questions or concerns to me. Zhongli is here as well to assist. Keep in mind we're not staff - just a pilot who misses real food, and someone with .... earth-related magic abilities. [ doing the best they can!!!! ]

that's how he keeps himself busy. he's not the fidgety sort in the least, which is why he's fine with simply standing around for a while. then he shakes himself when he hears vidar stop speaking.]
Ah, are we done? Have we found volunteers?
no subject
[ he yawns. it's a lot of hard work doing ... hard work, and he doesn't like that overmuch. ]
Why don't we check the plot again in the meantime? [ 'plot' being overly general here since it's still in the works. ]
no subject
Perhaps you should get some rest, and I can look over the potential spot myself.
You did well today.

[ a sigh. he's never worked hard in his life and the fact that he just has to in this place is killing him. he's rather spoiled to begin with; but certain behaviours just don't pay off and he has to work twice as hard to get anywhere. ]
no subject
And I cant imagine working in your massive machine is all that easy, either.
no subject
[ though he's right, it does require a certain physicality to pilot the gundam. ]
Alright. I'll be fine leaving you to it. I'm gonna nap for a bit, but honestly - wake me up if you need anything.

[ kidding!!! kidding. ]

he's already wondering if he's strengthened enough to turn back into his dragon-lin form and take a trip back to the adamant for chocolate.]
I could, if you truly wanted such things.

( her tone is amused. )
Careful, someone's going to start thinking you like it here. Good find, though. I'll make borscht once the beets are in.
( is she joking? serious? hard to tell with her. sometimes, she leans into the stereotypes just for fun. )
no subject
But I'll look forward to it. Considering what we've been eating the past few days ... a few seeds from the vault isn't going to change our rations entirely, but it's a start.
[ plus if there's anything that gaelio bauduin hates it's eating shitty food. vidar, that alias he's concocted for the fleet and for the rest of the world, doesn't complain about such things; is above such things. gaelio bauduin, always simmering behind that mask, is a spoiled brat who wants proper food and sometimes the urges of the little lord has to be indulged.
as it stands, it benefits all if he pretends to be who he's not, so here he is. advocating for veggies. ]

( this is said with playful irreverence. )
Are you angling to be the mayor of this place or something? Childe's going to have it out for you if you keep this up.
no subject
But no, I'm not angling to be a mayor of anything. We're going to be here for a while. Ensuring we can survive through it is just prudent.
[ there are mysteries to be solved, certainly, but as far as gaelio's concerned if he doesn't figure out how to get food other than rations he truly will go insane. ]

Within the ship, of course.

Have you been there?
no subject
I wasn't able to enter.
How was the state of the interior, all things considered?
no subject
no subject
Unless there were multiple.
Are there multiple?

( though perhaps it's for the best for the moment, if only because they still haven't managed to figure out how to better enrich the soil. though perhaps there is something within the ship, itself, that could help with that too. )
no subject
The ship itself is unmapped territory. Who knows what else is there.
no subject
I assume, then, that you plan to return at a later date?
no subject
Do you want to be involved?
no subject
Doubtless there are people at the camp that would be able to advise you on what to look for.
Where you might find it and so forth.
But, yes.
I confess the technology is a little beyond me but I am curious.
no subject
Doubtless. But I'm not anyone's errand boy. I go when I think it's interesting.
The technology isn't that impressive once you break it down to what it can and cannot do - I don't doubt you'll be able to find something equivalent in your world.

( as much as alina and nina have been extolling the virtues of making nice with the locals, he's still leery. undecided as to whether not they aren't still somehow responsible for their present predicament. )
Perhaps in the broadest sense.
( though, really, what does it say of his world that the dragon is less shocking to him than the notion of a space ship? )
no subject
People have been curious about the stars for as long as they've looked up to the skies; the idea of being here and the ship itself isn't really that impossible.
What happened to it is something else entirely. And as much as I'm interested in that tale of woe the people who know about it aren't as interested in talking.
It's a rather amusing predicament.

Their wariness is understandable if unhelpful. We are all relying on one another, here, regardless of whether or not it pleases us.
no subject
There's plenty to be sore about.

We only have what they've shared.

So either they know something or they hope to learn more through ingratiating themselves.
