Greetings,
You might remember that there was a meeting with the thessyx a few days back. Captain Childe wanted to speak to their representatives, and you don't need me to tell you how important actually making friends with the original inhabitants of this place are, I'm sure.
I won't bore you with the little details - Balthier will just have to tell you himself whether or not he arm wrestled one of the thessyx - but let me tell you about the main points as I heard them from where I was.
[From where he was sitting at the actual table. Obviously implying he snuck in and therefore was not in this conversation is much more fun and importance-free.]
We got answers to some questions - the thessyx aren't shy about any of this, but if you're the shy sort, don't worry, I've got you.
First, as we all know, the shell was full of gifts for the "Children of the Leviathan". That seems to be us.
We, the Children of Leviathan, are the reason they finally came here. Their monarch sensed the psychic impression of the Children of the Leviathan hatching, and since the Children of the Leviathan are the chosen ones of the dragon, and they worship that dragon, they wanted to see us, the Children of the Leviathan, firsthand.
[The dramatic way he's saying Children of the Leviathan is not being expressed in voice-to-text, but it's fine. Repetition will have to do the work.]
Captain Childe wants to negotiate an alliance with the thessyx, and she's willing to let them have access to the basecamp to get it, with some restrictions. For example, no weapons.
But, it seems a lot like the thessyx's main interest with the basecamp isn't the crew, it's us. It'll be worth keeping that in mind in future, but right now, it means Her Captainship is offering to show the thessyx the set-up here, and it might mean they'll help us in return.
Balthier - human, voice like a thunderstorm seducing you, maybe you know him - mostly spoke for the hatchlings during the meeting. Don't worry, he was the perfect gentleman - and mostly steered the conversation back to Captain Childe to do the talking.
I think even without standing on a table and making an inspiring speech, sword held high in the air as a non-existence breeze ripples his shirt-sleeves as I know in my heart he's capable of, Balthier got us some goodwill with the woman in charge around here.
There wasn't exactly time for a Q&A back there, but if the thessyx told you something that's worth sharing, let us all know. If we can gather everything we have about them in one place, it'll help. I've got a few extras of my own as well.
[He has already hit Post before realising that Balthier's voice very definitely reminds him of a close friend...and if he ever told Fenris his voice sounded like a seductive thunderstorm, the broody elf would murder him.]

I think they just want to stare at us lovingly for now, but I didn't sign up for responsibility.

Do you know why the Thessyx want access to basecamp in general? Is it just to be closer to us, or some other reason as well? Is there something in specific they want from us?
no subject
They weren't exactly forthcoming, but as I see it, they're not interested in the rest of the crew, only in us - if they get access to the camp, they get to see us.

Thank you for sharing the information.
I'm guessing they didn't say anything about what it means to be the "chosen ones of the dragon."

Did they say anything about how we can get off this planet?
no subject
No, they didn't. I get the impression from other conversations...and I can't believe I'm saying this...that they don't have space-faring technology.

Varric's giving me all the credit, while he performed a full ballad for our guests while dancing a traditional number reserved for esteemed guests and monarchs. He grandly bestowed on them a gift from us, a title of "Friends of the Leviathan." They seemed most pleased. Childe didn't murder the two of us. Everyone wins.
I did see a few questions I wanted to address:
-The thessyx were very intent on speaking to me and Varric as members of their "Children of the Leviathan" and had less interest in Childe. I think we need to be careful here -- Childe was not thrilled about this, and I doubt our hosts will be either.
-We didn't have much chance to press them for more answers, but they did not offer an answer to "why now" other than because their leader sensed our presence, and that the dragon is important.
-We did not get a sense of where they came from or if we can get off this planet. However, they seem very amenable to speaking to the Hatchlings. Do share if you find anything.
-This is not, in fact, the first time I have been compared to a sultry thunderstorm.

They're quite the patient species, the Thessyx.
Why is the dragon important to them? Did they tell you?

[Bastards.
Either she asked an ignorant Thessyx, or they lied until the information went to more pertinent Hatchlings.]
Did they elaborate on that? I know they didn't say what they expect us to do, but surely they used pretty words to describe their beloved chosen ones.
[Though, if they wanted something smote on their behalf, they could ask? Instead of these weird games! Ugh!]
The only other thing I heard was they believe the Leviathan made this world. So, we're "children" of a thing akin to a god. Which is terrible, honestly.
no subject
[ He's seen gods among men go south before. Trish has a point, even if she's very reactive about it. ]
They were alerted to our presence through their psychic link, and came on behalf of their queen. I am not convinced that they know why we came now or what is happening with the dragon.

putting aside that you didn't spare the boring details... so they worship the dragon, they bring us gifts... kinda weird they didn't try to kick the crew out after they started campin out here. hope they don't try to snag any of us for weird dragon cult rituals if we're so special.
@astarkov
It's possible they don't have the arms capability to kick anyone out of anywhere.

So, our arrival is an anomaly even to them. Despite how prepared in custom they seemed for it.
Perhaps there's some kind of prophecy they want us to fulfill.

( not how she would have approached it, maybe, but she's impressed by the level of detail (if embellished) he's providing. )
Just remember, all the Adamant's survivors can see these posts.
( a light, gentle reminder that the captain is almost certainly going to find herself being called her captainship. )

[ Switch to private which he's now learned how to do. ]
Point taken. Your vigilance is appreciated. Anything in particular you think we should run damage control on? This seems more your element than mine.
[ His piracy and espionage is usually more relegated to letters and airships. ]

As an aside - how often do you experience love affairs with natural disasters? Or is this a thunderstorm exclusive fetish?
Re: un: j.benjamin
What we are the the thessyx remains to be seen -- but that direction certainly feels on the table.
